Masonry is the term for building of structures from individual units (such as bricks, stones, and concrete block) and binding them using a mortar and reinforcing bars. In the Philippines, concrete hollow block (a.k.a. CHB) is the common concrete masonry unit. CHB are made up of mixture of cement and sand and cast under a certain pressure to form a block, it is commonly use for interior and exterior walls. Depending on the specified requirements, CHB have different sizes; 4” and 6” are the common CHB sizes here in the Philippines. |
Concurrently, the type of your CHB bonding will determine the strength of your walls and how it can withstand a certain conditions.
After 10 years of experimenting, Palmer were able to patent the design in 1900.
5. Stack Bond The stack bond is purely a pattern bond and composed mainly of stretchers, but unlike the running bond, all stretchers on this bonding are stack directly above each other and the joints align. This type of bond is cannot be used as a structural bond because it lacks of strength to support load bearing walls. |
